Safety & limits. What Materral does not do.
Materral is a read-only tool. It is built to show you an honest number, including when that number is a loss.
Read-only#
Materral reads public market data only. It does not place real orders: there is no order submission of any kind. Paper trades are filled in your browser against live quotes and never leave it.
No keys, no funds#
- No account, wallet connection or API key is needed.
- Materral never holds funds or keys, and the app contains no signing code.
- Your settings and paper trades stay in your browser's local storage.
Not atomic#
Every route has at least two legs on two venues, and they are separate orders. One leg can fill while the other fails or the price moves, leaving you exposed. Latency risk and the paper-trade outcomes (legged out) exist to make that visible.
Inventory#
Cross-venue routes need funds already on both venues: the quote currency where you buy and the asset where you sell. Withdrawals and transfers between venues are not modelled, in cost or in time.
What is not modelled#
- Withdrawal fees and transfer times between venues.
- The Base L1 data fee.
- Wrapped-token conversion: WBTC, cbBTC, WETH, UBTC, UETH and USOL are valued 1:1 with BTC, ETH and SOL, with a warning.
- Queue position, hidden liquidity and other traders reacting.
- Gas price spikes between decision and fill. Swap gas is a typical figure, not measured.
- Size beyond the visible book depth or the loaded pool ticks.
- Fees that are only partly verified (Coinbase), ambiguous (Binance.US) or unverified (Bitstamp). Each raises a warning.
Not investment advice#
Materral shows prices, costs and the assumptions behind them. It does not tell you what to trade. A positive net is an estimate from public data at one moment, not a promise of profit. Check every fee against your own account and do your own research before trading.
